Tanks or process vessels are used in a variety of industries for processing, storage, and transportation of materials. Several examples can be found in reactors, process vessels, tank trucks, rail cars, barges, and ship cargo tanks. For ease of cleaning, a 3D or dimensional tool is often used. A 3D tool can be dropped into the tank or vessel and rotates the high-pressure water on all three axes, completely cleaning the entire vessel or tank.
In a large variety of industrial applications, the use of pipes to transfer material to a different location is a standard practice. These materials can vary dramatically from application to application; however, no matter the substance, most pipes need to be cleaned, and high pressure water blasting is an effective process to maintain the efficiency of these pipes. Several common industries that use water blasting for pipe cleaning are Automotive, Construction, Marine, oil Field and Cement.
Tubes are classified differently from pipes. Tubes are typically smaller and clustered together. High pressure water is used to unclog tubes throughout a plant to keep the production and heat transfer efficient. The need for cleaning arises because the transported medium can cause deposits which could become obstructions in the tubes. Over time, corrosion of the tubes can also be a cause of reduced tube efficiency or even tube failure. These include, but are not limited to, removing unwanted deposits and build up in Heat Exchangers, Boilers, Fin Fans and Piping Systems.
Abrasive water-jet cutting is a process using special tools capable of slicing into metal or other materials using a jet of water at a high velocity and pressure, or by using a mixture of water and an abrasive substance. Abrasive cutting is the safest method of cutting in potentially explosive atmospheres or around flammable materials due to self-cooling attributes and no ignition source for gas line construction and maintenance. Additionally, a benefit for using abrasive weater-jet cutting on metal surfaces allows for the metal to be unharmed and unchanged. Several industries where abrasive cutting is useful are Construction, Power Generation-Coal or nuclear, Marine and Petrochemical.
